Jakarta, CNN Indonesia - The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) said that the tradition of violence in the National Police was inherited from the past when the institution was still under the umbrella of the Indonesian Armed Forces (ABRI). The Daily Chief of Kompolnas, Benny Mamoto, said that the tradition of violence was passed down from generation to generation at least until the National Police were officially separated from ABRI after reformation or when the Police Law was passed.

"If reform is 98, count until the police law is born, meaning those who were educated, and graduated until 2000 were still formed with a culture of violence in educational institutions," said Benny in an online discussion held by Imparsial, Monday (1/11).
