TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Imparsial's Director, Gufron Mabruri, urged President Joko Widodo or Jokowi to review all decisions on the appointment of former members of the Mawar Team in strategic positions or positions both in the TNI and at the Ministry of Defense.
Most recently, TNI Major General Untung Budiharto was appointed as Commander of the Jaya Regional Military Command. Then, there were Brigadier General Dadang Hendrayudha and Brigadier General Yulius Selvanus who became echelon 1 officials in the Ministry of Defense led by Prabowo Subianto. Each of them served as Director General of Defense Potential and Head of the Defense Strategic Installation Agency.
He assessed that the positions given to a number of former members of the Mawar Team showed that the government had not considered the importance of respect for human rights.
"When strategic positions in the TNI and the Ministry of Defense are occupied by people who have a bad record in the context of human rights, of course this becomes the main obstacle for the TNI and the Ministry of Defense itself to respect human rights principles," said Gufron in a written statement. , Sunday, January 9th, 2022.
