TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Commissioner (Komnas HAM) RI M Choirul Anam said his party would immediately summon the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) and the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjen PAS) regarding the Tangerang Class I Prison Fire which claimed dozens of lives last September.
Anam said the summons was a follow-up to the complaint submitted by the victim's family and advocacy team today, Thursday (28/10/2021).
Anam said previously, his party had also deployed a team at the time of the incident.
Currently, he said, his party is in the process of obtaining various information.
He thanked the victim's family and the advocacy team for enriching the information his team had obtained.
"We will call all parties. In particular the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and the Director General of PAS. What are the responsibilities of friends there? This must be proven. So it's not just finished with the funeral," Anam said during a press conference at the RI (Komnas HAM) office on Thursday (28/10/2021).
Anam also said that the problem was not solved only with the money given by the government to the families of the victims.
However, the matter of psychological recovery for the victim's family, restoration of the victim's status, and the survival of the victim's family left behind are important.
"Spurring all of us for similar incidents will not be repeated in the future. Not only fixing the system, but also thinking about the families of the victims. That's important for all of us,” said Anam.
He hoped that with the press conference the Kemenkumham and the Directorate General of PAS would come without having to be summoned (Komnas HAM).
“We talked about everything about what rights the victim had, how to give it, and when. So it's not just a sweet promise at the moment of the tragedy," said Anam.
