TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The move by the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnaviaan to appoint Brigadier General Andi Chandra As'aduddin as the Acting Regent of West Seram has been criticized by the Imparsial institution. They assessed that the appointment of active officers, both from the military and the police, as The Regional Chief In-Charge could cause legal problems.
Imparsial Director Gufron Mabruri said the government must pay attention to the TNI Law and the Police Law. According to him, the two laws should be the main reference in appointing members of the two institutions to hold public positions.
"The government, in this case the Ministry of Home Affairs, needs to review the plan to appoint an acting regional head from an active TNI/Polri element, considering that this is contrary to its parent regulations, namely the TNI Law and the Polri Law," said Gufron in his statement, Wednesday, May 25, 2022.
